{"id":61,"date":"2011-09-01T14:37:24","date_gmt":"2011-09-01T02:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bamba.org.nz\/bambawordpress\/?page_id=61"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:47:45","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T05:47:45","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/bamba.org.nz\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Belmont Area Mountain Bike Association (BAMBA) was established in 2009 as an incorporated society (later becoming a charitable trust)\u00a0to promote the interests of mountain bikers and other recreational users of the Belmont Regional Park.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of BAMBA is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advocate the interests of mountain bikers with in the Belmont Regional Park.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gw.govt.nz\/belmont\/\">Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gw.govt.nz\/friends-of-belmont-regional-park-2\/\">Friend of Belmont Regional Park<\/a>, and other interested parties.<\/li>\n<li>Establish, maintain, enhance, and preserve <a href=\"\/index.php\/tracks\/\">mountain biking and multi-use trails<\/a>, while minimizing environmental impact.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure continued access to existing trails with a view to extend access to other areas of the park.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain a long term view of the trail requirements as part of the <a href=\"\/index.php\/2014\/11\/03\/bamba-trail-network-plan\/\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"> Trail Network Plan<\/span><\/u><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About Belmont Regional Park<\/h2>\n<p>Belmont Regional Park covers 3,500 hectares of hills and valleys between Porirua and Hutt Valley, including the 1,200 hectare Waitangirua Farm. Points of interest within the park include: Korokoro Dam, World War II ammunition magazines, and part of the original Old Coach Road.
