explored the Danzig forest with Tyrone, Matt, Craig, Ian, Ryan?

Tyrone reported that Jeremy was very obliging and keen for us to undertake new track development but firstly we had to be sure we were maintaining existing trails. Tyrone said we were up to date.

Jeremy wants the part of Danzig Track near the bottom that crosses the 4WD road blocked off so that riders stay west or east of the 4WD without crossing it. Our 5 year plan below addresses
this. Danzig should be made uphill only, so we need to build another easy descending track.

After some discussion we agreed on the following track development plans in this order of priority

Bottom of Last Sun DH should continue to the bottom instead of merging with Big Weta. It will come thru the fence at the bottom so that the dangerous intersection at the bottom will be made safer. Working Bee Sun 9am 17th Apr.

Tidy up Big Weta Bypass

Choppers needs a new entry at the top and the design must change to improve the flow. On the top half extend corners to the east and build berms and drops. Long straights that go into sharp corners must be avoided because they lead to braking ruts. Ian thought we could make Choppers 25% longer.

New track from the Danzig hairpin before it crosses the 4WD near the bottom, climbing to the Green Shed staying on the left of the 4WD. Ian said we must not make it steep so maximum length will be required.

New family track from the Woolshed on the south side down thru the bush following the creek to the bottom of Middle Ridge, then climbing to the right and then an anticlockwise loop towards the Belmont Trig climb and back the the bottom of Middle Ridge. The return leg to the Woolshed exists so this creates a Family Loop.

New DH track called Ruru from Old Coach Rd down the west side of Danzig to join into The Slide near the Green Shed. It currently partly exists.

Pump Track to be built near the bottom of Middle Ridge. Material is expected to be free.

New link track from the Hill Rd car park across the farm to Old Coach Rd. It is about 2km long and would need to be a GWRC project.

New track from bottom of Big Weta up to Danzig. Tyrone said this would be very difficult to build.

General Business

Craig will discuss the litter issue with Jeff Henry just off Big
