Sunday 13th July – Working Bee (Planting)

Hi,
Firstly– This Sunday (13th July) it is planned to meet the Park Ranger at 9.30 am.
Hill Road car park. (Belmont entrance to park)

We will be doing some planting in the park for around 1 to 2 hours.

(depending how many show up to assist!)
This is also a great way to give back to the park in another way and is not hard work at all!

After we will return to the Woolshed at Stratton street and have a BBQ laid on by GWRC and enjoy some snaggs (Jeremy is to get his pinny on!).

Also we can then do a bit of trail tweaking on Borderline if so desired after the BBQ!

Note, Both Paul and Marco will be at Stratton street at 9 am if a few wish to get a lift over to Hill Road and back – or to collect anyone that is not aware of what we are doing for that morning and turns up at 9am!

Second – Top job today by the BNZ volunteers who finished off the final stage to Borderline and also put in a deviation further up the trail.

Hope to see ya on Sunday. Happy Trails. Paul.

Big turn out on borderline

Big turn out on a great Sunday morning on Borderline with another 50 – 100 meters completed, including a new exit into the Stratton Street Woolshed car park. Awesome job guys, and hope to see everyone back in a fortnight to finish off the main line, or possibly some deviations.

Borderline work party

We’ll have to have an official opening in the near future, but in the meantime, feel free to give it a go.

Borderline Dig Day

Dig morning this Sunday, 29th June, on Borderline. Work will progress near the bottom, so easy walking access from Stratton Street, or bike in from Normandale Road. See you from 9:00am.

BORDERLINE

BORDERLINE SIGNAGE 1The new track currently in progress that replaces the Last Sun, was to be named Quick Route, however it will now be named “BORDERLINE”.  This name has a double meaning and is well suited due to its location and the nature of some sections of the track! Progress has been steady and more berms and other improvements are all planned for in the future. It is hoped to fully complete this track before December. Remember that BAMBA conducts working bee’s every Sunday fortnight so please stay tuned for up coming dates and details , We would love your help!.

Grooming & Gravelling!

As the title states – a good top section of the bull run has been Groomed and Gravelled . Also two ugly water traps, actually mud bogs, have also been dealt too!

Big thanks to the following members from Hutt Valley MTB Club: Gordon Macdonald, Finn Macdonald, Lachie Macdonald, Grant Atkin, Andrew Duncan, Luke Duncan, Jarrod Duncan.

Also thanks of course to the Park Ranger – Jeremy and the two BAMBA members; Angus and Paul.

Note that more of the above is planned in the near future so stay tuned as we would love your help too!

Happy Trails!

Working Bee – Sunday 15th.

Hi all, Working Bee again this Sunday, 9 am.
To confirm we are again working on the replacement for Last Sun this Sunday!
(Sorry – we are not gravelling “Bull Run” as first planned!)
PLEASE NOTE: Due to an event being held in the park – please enter from OCR (Old Coach Road, end of Normandale Road) and NOT from Stratton St!
Either make your way in via feet or just bike in!

Weather is looking good so hope to see ya there!

Cheers Paul.

Belmont Park Hours

Please be aware that the Belmont Regional Park hours are 8:00am until dusk. This is due to the area being an active farm, such as the Hill Road entrance. GWRC will be reviewing if there is adequate signage, however BAMBA will also be discussing with GWRC what the practical impact of such hours are on our park users.

For more information about the park check out the GWRC site, http://www.gw.govt.nz/belmont/
