Great work done today by those who did / were able to show up and start the new realignment section of the Bull Run!  NOTE: NEXT DIG DAY IS THIS COMING SUNDAY – 24TH MARCH!  Trail building dig days will then also be held fortnightly there after!  Stay tuned!  Happy Trails.

Bull Run trail Building / Danzig logging area update

The felling of the Danzig Forest is going well and due to be finished Jun/Jul.   Around 40-50 truckloads of 40 tonnes each have been extracted.

The new road from the Woolshed up to Old Coach Rd is half built and will be a wide gravelled road with gradient up to 1/6.

GWRC have put aside a budget to build a “Danzig” replacement track also!

The new trail from Baked Beans bend down to Mill Stream is over half built by GWRC contractors.

We are about to start the realignment of the lower section of Bull Run.  We would appreciate volunteers to help dig etc on Sunday 17th March.

Meet 9am on Old Coach Rd at the start to Bull-a-Varde.  If late make your way down the Bull Run to the rock garden area! See you there!

Danzig trails closed : reminder / update!

Hi folks,

Now that the logging has once againg started its a good time to remind you that all trails in the Danzig forest are once again off limits to all public! Thats a bugger really as it leaves little single track riding in this immediate area!

Old Coach Road (OCR) is still open which allows access to the Bull-a-Varde which leads onto Sweetacres. http://tracks.org.nz/track/show/1271

Also check out the below links however for other trail’s in the wider park area that could be up your ally! http://tracks.org.nz/track/show/99    o   r http://tracks.org.nz/track/show/110
It is planned that BAMBA will be working once again on the Bull Run in the very near future and hopefully we can get this open in the early stages of this year!
Happy Trails.  Paul

Danzig Logging – Update

The Park Ranger has advised that the logging operation will commence at the start of this November (2012) weather permitting!.  There is now a skid site in place near the very end of Weta so take care whilst riding this last section for the time being.

NOTE: ALL TRAILS WILL REMAIN CLOSED WITHIN THE DANZIG FOREST  WHILST THE LOGGING OPERATION IS IN PROGRESS! (ie: Danzig, Weta, Last sun, The Slide, Choppers)

However Old Coach Road will remain open for most of the logging duration and will only be closed for short periods nearer the end of the logging operation or whilst removing pines near this trail. Please excercise caution near this area and stick to the open trails / tracks!

It is hoped that the “Bull Run” will have its issues resolved in the future and this trail will be the made available once work has been completed on the required sections etc.

Happy Trails!

Paul.
